Last month as we were delivering this very newsletter, we came across some neighbors out in their front yard. Hands were flying, gesturing to the roof, the front yard. The conversation looked intense. As we approached them it became clear what was being discussed. It was then that we knew. This had to be our Yard of the Month for December. Afterall, anyone putting this much thought and consideration into their Christmas decorations deserves the honor! They had even recruited a friend to aid in their decision making, this is how serious the situation was. So congratulations to Jamie and Robert Bradley on Aries, you are our Yard of the Month!
This is the Bradley's first Christmas in the neighborhood, and they are loving all of the decorated homes and enjoy them as they go out on their evening walks. One of their favorite homes is on one of the cul-de-sacs off of Acadia. Sounds like there is a dental inspired undertone theme to the decorations? We are unsure of which street this home is on, but if cruising the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights is your thing, make sure you include the cul-de-sac streets!
Jamie wanted to go full Griswald on their home, but they kept it reined in. For this year, at least. We love the large lights lining the driveway, and the falling snowflakes. Goofy, Donald, Minnie, Mickey, and Pluto can be found out front, and house is fully lined with the classic bold colors of Christmas lights that is sure to induce nostalgia in any 80s kid.
This is such a fun time of year, and we are so appreciative to everyone who has taken the time to decorate their homes. It is a lot of work, please know your efforts do not go unnoticed. Whether you have decorated in honor of Christmas, Hannukah, Chrismukkah, or whatever you wish to celebrate, we love it all. We have immensely enjoyed taking drives through our streets at night, it seems there are more decorated homes than ever. A big thank you to everyone who has brightened up our neighborhood this holiday season!
And on that note, here is where you can experience even MORE holiday cheer and light displays!
Mae Boyer - This adjacent Oak Park neighborhood to our north always has a generous smattering of lights. After you finish driving though Fountainwood, be sure to take Pinewood Street to cross over the Ventura county line to enjoy all our neighbors have to offer.
Our Halloween friends over on Middle Crest Drive are at it again, they have a display so bright it is noticeable from TO Blvd.
Westlake Village Inn have created a winter wonderland that is not to be missed!
Wild Lights and Jungle Nights at America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. From 6 to 8:30 pm each night until December 30th, save Christmas Eve and Day. Prices are $15 for adults, $12 for kids 3-12 and Seniors, free for kids 2 and under. This self guided tour takes 45 minutes and is filled with lights, immersive interactive experiences, and more. Click here for details.
Candy Cane Lane by Moorpark High School - If you visit only one light display this year, LET THIS BE THE ONE. We don't want to oversell this display, but...it might not even be possible to put into words how impressive this neighborhood is. It is a must see. Dress warmly, pack a thermos of hot chocolate, and stroll the streets to fully appreciate all the work that has been done here, simply driving through is not enough! To get there, Enter "Clearwood Rd, Moorpark" into your GPS and you will have no problem figuring it out from there. While it is obvious which streets steal the show, last year we found many other homes in the area stepped up their game as well, be sure to take your time and drive around.
The Conejo Valley Guide website and Intagram has a complete list of all the impressive displays in our area by private residences. And since they have permission to share this information and we don't, click here to check out their website, scroll down to the heading "Residential and Other Light Displays".
May everyone have a happy, safe, and joyous holiday season. We are thankful to have spent yet another year in this fabulous community with you all. Happy holidays, and we wish a very happy and prosperous New Year to you all!
