What's Cookin'? Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cream cheese adds a richness to the dough, and orange zest offers a sophisticated little twist to this classic cookie. Patricia recommends throwing in some walnuts if you're feeling extra. This recipe was originally featured in Oprah Magazine.


The ingredients needed to make the cookies

Ingredients:

1 (3 oz) Package cream cheese, room temperature

16 Tbsp. (2 sticks) unsalted butter (or regular), room temperature

1 cup sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 cups all –purpose flour

1 tsp. salt

1 (12 oz.) package semisweet chocolate chips

2 tsp. grated orange zest

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat cream cheese, butter, and sugar

on high speed until well blended.

3. Beat in eggs and vanilla until smooth.

4. Reduce speed to low; beat in flour and salt until just combined.

5. Stir in chocolate chips and orange zest.

6. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets; space dough

about 1 inch apart.

7. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned around the

edges.

8. With a spatula, transfer to racks to cool completely;

9. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

10. Makes about 54 cookies
